Axis planning team has assisted Kingswood in securing planning approval for a number of capital investments at its outdoor education centres around the UK.
Grosvenor Hall Ashford, Kent, has seen consent secured on the former National Police Training Centre for a set of adventure lodges and yurt; a new 4300m2 lake to allow visitors to experience water sports in a safe and controlled environment; and a new water softening equipment to reduce the likelihood of pipes furring up.
Peak Venture, Barnsley, a green belt site on the edge of the Peak District, has received consent for a cluster of new glamping pods with yurt and WC/shower block; and a new reception facility and staff room together with improvements to a quad bike track.
Dearne Valley, Doncaster, the former Earth Centre millennium funded project acquired by Kingswood in 2011, and now its flagship centre, has received consent for a set of adventure lodges and a pod village with yurts to complement the previously consented permanent accommodation buildings. A decision on an application for a further pod village and adventure equipment (zip lines and high ropes courses) is currently awaited.
Sites at Colomendy, Denbighshire and Bembridge, Isle of Wight have received consent for adventure lodges and yurt providing an alternative accommodation for visiting guests.
Axis is also assisting Kingswood to secure new sites to extend its strategic UK coverage.
