AXIS is looking to make appointments in the Company’s Transport Planning Team

As a consequence of our rapidly expanding workload, AXIS is looking to make appointments in the Company’s Transport Planning team based in Wilmslow, South Manchester. The team currently work on a wide range of projects across the UK including the preparation of Transport Statements / Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Feasibility Appraisals, input to Environmental Statements and the provision of Expert Witness services at Public Inquiries.

AXIS is looking for candidates that offer the following skills:

Transport Planner / Senior Transport Planner

A graduate in Transportation Planning / Engineering related subject, with a minimum of two years’ experience in development transport planning. Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • A good basic knowledge of all aspects of transport planning for developments – from scheme feasibility appraisal through to the preparation of formal transport assessments and traffic engineering / preliminary highway design;
  • Familiarity and some experience of working with industry-standard transport analysis software, e.g. JUNCTIONS8, LINSIG, TRICS, TRANSYT, etc;
  • Understanding and experience of working in the planning regulatory framework and a working knowledge of transport and development-related planning policy;
  • A track record of having assisted / been responsible for the preparation of technical reports and the delivery of work in line with quality, time and budget constraints;
  • A high standard of communication skills and the ability to work and engage with a range of external stakeholders such as clients, local authority officers and members of the public.

A working knowledge of CAD / TRACK in the preparation of preliminary highway layout drawings and other supporting plans and illustrations would be of advantage.

Principal Transport Planner / Associate

A graduate (MSc / MEng desirable) in a Transportation Planning / Engineering related subject or equivalent, with a minimum of five years’ experience in development transport planning consultancy. Candidates would be expected to be able to demonstrate:

  • A sound understanding of all aspects of transport planning for developments – from scheme feasibility appraisal through to the preparation of formal transport assessments and traffic engineering / preliminary highway design;
  • Good experience of working with industry standard transport analysis software, e.g. JUNCTIONS8, LINSIG, TRICS, TRANSYT, etc;
  • Understanding and experience of working in the Planning Regulatory framework and a working knowledge of transport and development related planning policy;
  • A high standard of communication skills and a proven ability to work and engage with a range of external stakeholders such as clients, local authority officers and members of the public;
  • The ability to prepare and work to a detailed project brief delivering high quality work, including the preparation and coordination of technical reports, whilst monitoring the progress / input of junior staff;
  • The ability to deliver projects within agreed timescales and budget constraints, whilst meeting quality expectations;
  • Experience of monitoring the financial status and progress of projects from inception through to completion;
  • Preparation of fee proposals in response to client requests and / or assistance in the preparation of multi-disciplinary project bids for transport elements;
  • An interest in taking an active role in the winning of work and supporting AXIS’ business promotion activities, including the development of existing and new client relationships.

The role of Principal Transport Planner / Associate would suit a highly motivated individual with developing project management abilities, who is seeking to play a key part in the continued development and expansion of a dynamic business.
