Planning Permission secured for Development of an Energy Recovery Park in Southport, Sefton

AXIS has secured full planning permission on behalf of Iona Capital for the development of a 100,000tpa Energy Recovery Park comprising a Waste Transfer Station; new Anaerobic Digestion Facility; Operation and Teaching Facility; Biomass Boiler Facility and associated ancillary infrastructure including storage tanks, weighbridge, reception office etc. The permission also provides outline planning permission for development of over 4,000m2 of new B2/B8 industrial warehousing, associated access and landscaping. The development is located in Southport, Sefton.

The Energy Recovery Park would have an electrical generating capacity of 2.5MW in addition to 6.3MW of renewable thermal energy for re-use. It will collectively secure circa 100 full time jobs plus an immeasurable number of temporary supply jobs and permanent indirect associated service jobs.

AXIS was responsible for all facets of the planning application including the preparation, co-ordination and submission of all planning documentation and supporting environmental information. The application required extensive engagement with a number of departments within Sefton Borough Council, as well as other key stakeholders and technical consultees. All of the consultation and negotiation process was undertaken by AXIS staff. The application was considered by Members of the Planning Committee on the 29th September and permission was granted by a majority vote of 11-1.
