energy

Energy policy and the delivery of a sustainable and secure energy supply are at the forefront of the challenges facing the UK in the 21st Century.
Whether it is:

  • the growing evidence of the impact of climate change and wider international recognition that there needs to be a concerted global effort to cut greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide
  • rising fossil fuel prices and slower than expected liberalisation of EU energy markets at a time when the UK is increasingly relying on imported energy
  • heightened awareness of the risks arising from the concentration of the world's remaining oil and gas reserves in fewer regions around the world

the UK will need to make substantial new investment in power supply systems, the electricity grid, and gas infrastructure. The challenge will be met by saving energy; developing cleaner energy supplies; and securing reliable energy supplies at prices set in competitive markets.

AXIS has extensive experience in the energy sectors including:

  • securing planning permission for a wide range of renewable/low carbon energy supply systems (wind farms, biomass power stations, energy from waste, anaerobic digestion, landfill gas)
  • preparing applications (planning and Section 36 of the Electricity Act ) for conventional power stations and large renewables projects
  • planning services to the nuclear energy industry
  • planning advice on renewable energy supply in new development
  • undertaking renewable energy studies (all technologies) and renewables development capacity/areas of search studies
  • advice on the implications of energy legislation and policy
