cons

The UK has long been subject to the pressures of competing land uses and has an established system for the conservation and enhancement of the country’s cultural heritage, biodiversity and landscape resource.

AXIS is familiar with the guidance and licensing requirements of the regulatory authorities through liaison with governmental agencies including Natural England, Environment Agency, English Heritage, Scottish Natural Heritage, SEPA, Historic Scotland, Natural Resources Wales and Cadw.

AXIS is able to advise developers on the assessment, evaluation and mitigation of development proposals to ensure that valued features are appropriately conserved and enhanced.

AXIS has particular experience of:

  • County and District wide landscape character assessments;
  • landscape and nature conservation enhancement strategies;
  • studies to support landscape and heritage designations;
  • ecological mitigation and enhancement schemes including successfully obtaining licences for works affecting European protected species; and
  • assessing the effects of development on protected/designated archaeological and heritage features and developing mitigation measures where appropriate in order to obtain Scheduled Ancient Monument consent.
