In December Axis was delighted to donate four Dyson Air Multiplier Fans to the Manchester Children’s Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Unit (BMTU).
Children undergoing a bone marrow transplant are hospitalised for anywhere between several weeks to six months. Throughout this time they are cared for in isolation, unable to leave their cubicle throughout their stay. The chemotherapy based treatment can cause huge spikes in patients core temperature, but due to the strict air filtering systems used within the unit only the high specification Dyson Air Fans are permitted. Unfortunately the BMTU has been unable to fit these within a number of the cubicles due to budget restrictions.
Over the last two months, the BMTU has been caring for Henry Adams, the son of one of our Directors, and as a result the work they do has become very close to our hearts. With the donation of these four fans each unit is now fully equipped.
